Also, the opposition party clinched the majority of the national assembly seats in the senate and the house of representatives thereby enabling the APC to constitute the majority in the national assembly, this enables the party to take over the leadership of the national assembly thereby relegating the ruling PDP to the background.

My fear for Nigeria's democracy
Wednesday, April 22, 2015
An open letter to President-elect General Muhammadu Buhari
victory is indeed unique for General Buhari in the sense that it was his fourth shot at the presidency after suffering defeats in 2003, 2007, and 2011. Indeed you have proven to be a resilient, determined
and dogged fighter that stood his ground despite the previous setbacks you had suffered in the past in your bid to become a democratically elected president of our country.
So on behalf of every Nigerian, I say congratulations to you on success in the last presidential
election. I personally deduced that people got fed up of impunity and corruption ravaging the land since 1999 when the Peoples Democratic Party ascended the throne of leadership in the country. I know very well that you know the challenges facing the nation, the major problem of this country is corruption, corruption is the bane of the problems of Nigeria, corruption has become a norm in Nigeria, the country has become a laughing stock among the comity of nations. Many acts of
corruption have been perpetrated in the petroleum sector but it is a shame that many of them have been swept under the carpet, but in you, the people see a man capable of truncating the wave of corruption ravaging the land.
