Do our leaders have dreams for our dear country?

From George Washinghton to James Monroe, to Andrew Jackson, to Bill Clinton, to George W Bush to Barack Obama, none of these leaders had ever given a speech without mentioning the dreams of our fore-fathers in their messages, they don't only proclaim it verbally but their energy is geared towards the fulfilment of the "American Dream". Either elected into the seat of power through democrats or republicans, they have common goals to bring the dreams of their fore-fathers into fruition, they jettison their personal interests and pursue the American dreams passionately.

In Nigeria, the case is not the same, the leaders have no mission, goals and dreams for our beloved
country Nigeria, they seek for elective offices to enrich themselves at the detriment of the nation. It is only in Nigeria that politicians are super-rich, they milk the nation dry to satisfy their greed and ego.

Democracy as a form of government is defined as the government of the people by the people and for the people but the Nigeria's democracy is government of the politicians for the politicians. Nigeria as a country has no dream that the leaders are pursuing since 1999, the country has been run by leaders that have no dreams for the nation, no wonder as a nation, there is unstable electricity, poor infrastructure and high level of unemployment, instead of the leaders to design a road-map on how to tackle the problems, they are unconcerned about these problems and this has allowed the problems to snowball into an unimaginable proportion.

A country that became independent in 1960 and is still struggling in nearly all the sectors. it is a shame that since the death of our true nationalists like Chief Awolowo, Sir Tafawa Balewa, Nnamdi Azikiwe etc, the country has been struggling to stand on her feet. This is because our subsequent leaders had no clear vision for this country. The past leaders were the people that had clear and specified dreams for this country.

How can a nation whose leaders promote their personal and party agenda develop? The year 2015 is around the corner, the set-time to put things in order, the time to rescue our land from political parasites milking our nation dry, the time for Nigeria to reject the "mantra of business as usual", the time to elect leaders that have clear and specified dreams for our beloved country. The present so called leaders are full of people with the same mentality hoping to keep recycling themselves in the offices. I implore all Nigerians to say NO to them because we are at the receiving end of their actions.

Year 2015 is presenting another opportunity to get things right in this country, the task of building a great and egalitarian Nigeria is a task of you and I.
I believe we can do it together. Say NO to leaders without dreams for our nation in the 2015 general elections.
